“The only way to get peace is for the public and police to work together. The Police alone cannot improve security, they need to work with the public who are required to report anything suspicious they see to the police and that is the only way they can work together. That is what we spoke about and agreed upon. The Hamarweyne public were already working closely with the Police and they have again promised to continue working with the police.”

“Today AMISOM Police jointly with the Somalia Police and the district commissioner of this administration of Hamarweyne embarked on a sensitization drive in Hamarweyne district where the public turned up in large numbers from the elders, women communities, the youth and the clergy alongside the businessmen. What came out vividly was the commitment by the community of Hamarweyne to build partnerships with the security forces to formulate home-grown solutions to the security situation in Hamarweyne.”
